What is an Ecoflo ® septic installation?

A septic installation collects and treats all wastewater generated in a dwelling. The Ecoflo ® system does not replace the septic tank, but is does replace the treatment system that comes after (e.g., a conventional system, sand filter or other technology). The Ecoflo ® is designed for use in both main and secondary dwellings.

Septic tank

The septic tank (primary treatment) retains the solids contained in wastewater.

Effluent filter

The septic tank's effluent filter ensures that no coarse solid particles exit the septic tank.

Shell and distribution system

Wastewater from the septic tank enters the fiberglass or concrete shell and is distributed over the entire surface of the filter thanks to a gravitational distribution system consisting of a tipping bucket and distribution pipes. The water is then passed through the filter and purified.

Filter

The Ecoflo ® septic system uses natural, quality-controlled filter to treat wastewater. This organic filter provides high-quality protection by filtering pollutants and retaining them until their degradation. In fact, it is an actual physical barrier that extends the lifetime of the absorption bed.

Absorption bed

Once the water has been treated, it is infiltrated and dispersed into the soil in an absorption bed, that is, an area of clean stone and a layer of natural soil located downstream from an Ecoflo ® with a bottom or under a bottomless Ecoflo ® (when soil conditions allow it).
